The light at the end of the tunnel has been spotted. Jon Waltz finally gave fans the release date for his much hyped debut project Alyss. The project will be dropping this Sunday, October 5th. We can’t wait to hear what the project consists of. Check out the official track list below.
Park Street Saloon was the place to be last night if you were in Columbus. Ab-Soul and a number of other performers put on a very dope show. Check out some photos of the performance below.
Dreamer, who was featured on XXL’s The Break earlier this year, started the night off on a high note with his set.
The next performer was Hashu. The 16 year old Columbus native performed quite a few songs, including “What I Do.” Which he dropped two days ago and you can stream below.
Atlanta’s EarthGang took the stage after Hashu and played a wild set. Their sound is new to us here at Smooth Waves but you can bet that you’ll be seeing and hearing more from them in the future. Everything about the duo, from their outfits to their lyrics, was very dope.
Next up was Bas. Bas is part of J. Cole’s Dreamville Record label. The NY native not only had a killer set but also had a section of the crowd that looked as though they had come out just for him.
Once Bas left the stage it all Ab-Soul for the remainder of the night. His performance was something else. For over an hour he performed songs from all over his resumé. Many of the songs were from These Days… of course, but, he also performed songs from Control System and other projects.
Chi-town rapper Hyype has announced when his next album, Seraphic, will be dropping. The official release date is November 11, 2014 (11/11/14). Over here at Smooth Waves we’re very very excited to hear what Seraphic has in store for listeners. In case you haven’t listened to Hyype’s last project Divine Minded, you can give that a listen right HERE.
Hashu and yacht club are quite the pair. The production on “What I Do” is hard-hitting and grabs the listeners attention from the get-go. Then, Hashu comes through and murders this track. The 16 year old Columbus native might not be old enough to buy cigarettes but he already spits harder than half of the rappers getting radio play. Seriously, this is one of the dopest songs we’ve heard from a young and up coming artist in awhile. Don’t let his age fool you, Hashu is serious.
Stumbled upon this through one of my friends from the west coast this afternoon. Fashawn just signed with Nas’ label imprint Mass Appeal earlier this year and is prepping for his upcoming debut album The Ecology, which is due out sometime in 2015. “Golden State Of Mind” serves as the first single off of the album and features Dom Kennedy so get excited. Expect much more from Fashawn in the near future. Shout out to the Bay Area. Stream this below.
