Batman and Robin, Jordan and Pippen, Kobe and Shaq, Mick Jenkins and Kaytranada.
Kaytranada and Mick Jenkins both took over 2016 by storm. The two have been collaborating for awhile now and both released their debut albums this year. They linked up again one more time before the close of the year to give us another banger. “Aurora Borealis” features Mick’s signature deep voice, with a conscious flow of rhymes over rugged sonic terrain courtesy of Kaytranada. Give the track a listen below.
Alaina Moore crooning about everything being better if we just stick together couldn’t have come at a better time. The husband and wife duo give listeners a 70s vibe with both the song and the accompanying video while sticking to their romantic roots. Give the video a watch below.
Earlier this year Smino and Sango linked up for the track “Lemon Pon Goose” and the result was absolute fire. Though the summer heat is long gone and the cold Midwestern snows are setting in for good the two haven’t stopped putting out heat. “blkswn” is much more laid back but still retains the same uptempo, elastic sound that both artists have seemed to master. Check this out below you won’t be disappointed.
Kaytranada offers up a contemporary twist to the classic Afrika Bambaataa track “Planet Rock” without straying too far from the songs roots. The song, which premiered via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show earlier this week is a nice addition to Kaytranada’s catalogue of remixes. The remix joins Kaytranada’s past twists of Janet Jackson’s “If” and Teedra Moses’ “Be Your Girl.” Take a listen to the remix below and let us know what you think.
Dae Dae has had an exciting 2016 and as the year comes to a close he looks to keep the ball rolling into 2017. His hit single “Spend It” was solid to begin with but with features from Young M.A. and Young Thug the song gets taken to the next level. Young M.A. absolutely bodies her line. Give it a listen below.
