Stream Von Alexander’s new album ‘Mayhem1993’

Milwaukee isn’t usually high on the list of hip-hop hot beds, but the the city north of Chicago has been making waves in the past two years and at the forefront of the movement is Von Alexander. The 23 year old’s latest effort comes in the form of Mayhem1993. The album is an interesting assortment of sounds, from Atlanta to Chicago, and a range of tones varying from introspective to braggadocios, with the end result being a fast paced taste of what Milwaukee has to offer.

Must Listen: Trapo’s debut album ‘Shade Tree’ is here

Trapo, a rapper from Wisconsin, made some waves this past year with the release of a mini EP titled SHE and his debut mixtape Black Beverly Hills. Since the successful release of those projects he’s been all over blogs like The Fader and Pigeons and Planes. Today we finally get the debut effort from the rapper who’s drawn comparisons to Chicago’s Mick Jenkins and despite his young age has a knack for telling stories that seem much older than himself. Give his album a listen below and enjoy.

Also, some merch from the album is available here on his website.

[MIDWEST] Webster X recruits Allan Kingdom for “Kinfolk”

This is the first I’ve heard of Webster X, and I like it. “Kinfolk” is a very dope track with a killer feature from Minnesota’s Allan Kingdom. Webster is a rapper from Milwaukee and is one of the artists we’ll be keeping an eye on in the future. The Midwest is heating up as winter nears. Nice to see good sounds coming from somewhere other than Chicago.
