Here’s the best songs from the past week

8bestoftheweek3.jpg

Here’s my favorite songs of the past week. A lot dropped and a lot of it was good, but this is the best. Starting with Miami’s Sylvan Lecue and ending up North with Toronto’s rising star Derek Wise. There’s a little bit of everything on here. Even if you don’t listen to all of it give Nova’s “Listen Up” a listen. The West Coast based producer has been killing it lately.

Appleby gives us two new tracks- “Drinkin” (Prod. by SeeoBeats) & “Scars In Waiting” (Prod. by NOVA)

Apple3-600x400

Appleby, the mysterious and, for now, faceless singer/rapper, released two new songs the other day. The first, “Drinkin,” was produced by SeeoBeats and is slowed down and moody, showcasing the rap side of Appleby’s arsenal, as well as his singing. Imagine your underwater and you can hear a song being played super loud above you, that’s what this one sounds like. The second track, “Scars in Waiting,” was produced by one of our favorites here at Smooth Waves, NOVA. Here, Appleby gives us a delivery that’s at first reminiscent of The Weeknd or PND and then switches to something you might find from The Stand4rd. The future is bright for Appleby and we’re excited to hear more from the young man. Check out both tracks below and enjoy.

One of the projects I was looking forward to the most this year was this. Finally, NOVA delivers. The project is everything I expected. Vibe-y, late night, early morning, city sounds from the up and coming artist. On the whole project there are only two features, one from RMSY, and one from Jack Larsen. I can’t think of two up and coming artists that better fit NOVA’s style. There’s no telling where this project will take NOVA, but this deserves a listen from everyone. Stream the whole project below and check out the songs with RMSY and Jack below that.

“Dear Winter,” Ramsay Almighty’s 6 track EP, is here

Ramsay Almighty

Just a week after dropping off “Hollywood Sign,” Ramsay is back with the EP he promised us. Dear Winter spans 6 tracks, 2 of which were previously released. The project shows how far Ramsay has progressed since the release of Metropolis over a year ago. It will be interesting to see what 2015 has in store for the Canadian artist. The production on the project comes from NOVA, one of our favorites, and IAMNOBODI, HXNS and Megalith. Stream Dear Winter below and let us know what you think.

Dutchboy dropped off his EP Visions the other day, and halfway through the first listen, I’m definitely a fan. He links up with some of my favorite rising artists–NOVA and Ramsay Almighty–for my favorite track on the EP, titled “Trapped.” Listen to the project in it’s entirety below and let us know what you think.
