The other day Lucki Eck$ dropped off a mixtape titled X and for about 6 hours after the initial release all I saw on my Twitter timeline was tweets about the project. After taking the time to sit down and listen to the project multiple times from start to finish the hype is definitely justified. Listen to the complete project below and let us know what you think.

We got an email yesterday from a 22 year old producer out of Philadelphia named X. He recently released his own beat tape with the title .wav. The vibe here is very dark, especially in his instrumentation. Heavy bass with low and high synths round out his sound. It is an interesting tape that more people should check out. We hope to see more from the producer in the near future. You can stream his whole project, .wav below and be sure to follow him on twitter .

It’s been a very slow past few days for music. So, we decided to look back at some of the submissions we’ve had emailed to us lately. One that we really liked over here at Smooth Waves was a submission from Philadelphia’s X.
After dropping the stage name “Rookie Beats” he decided it’d only be right to make the new name official by dropping off a beat tape. His project LFTD can be streamed or downloaded for free below.
The 11 track project showcases some of X’s production skills and what he has to bring to the table. LFTD starts off with “Long A$$ Intro” a a rhythmic, dreamy soundscape that gets listeners hooked. The next track “Rounds” might be my personal favorite. The intro features some jazzy horns and then breaks down into a dope beat with some nice sampling. The last track on the project is called “HA” and you can tell from the start that it’s about to go down. This one is ready for someone to drop some vicious bars over. Check out LFTD below.
